All that is gifted

We so easily forget

Forgetting all that’s gifted
Towards more, the mind’s tilted
Learning about satisfaction
Has become a distraction

There is always room for more
The mind says, as it pads its store
Sending us out in the world, to beg
Infecting worries, about our nest egg

There so much that comes free
Life is a fully laden fruit tree
From sunrise to a sunset
How easily we forget our debt

The power of nature and the elements
They give all that we own relevance
Humanity’s a spoke in a giant wheel
Each species must live up its ideal

We have failed, through war
The reason, our quest for more
When the bell of contentment rings
It activates the heart’s strings

When the eyes become the tool
Of love, each becomes a jewel
Sharing and caring will replace
Greed, as the mind’s interphase

Remembrance of all that is gifted
A form of greatness, if we’re committed
It’s an easily accessible form of joy
Before the tide turns, we must deploy
