As the hourglass tips
Words that leave our lips
Are seared into the air
We breathe and share
As the hourglass tips
Time’s swallowed in sips
History won’t be blind
To what we leave behind
As the hourglass tips
And life nears its eclipse
Freedom isn’t gifted
When thoughts are wicked
As the hourglass tips
Finality tightens its grips
Thoughts begin to faint
Are we freed from taint?
