Play, run, walk, sleep

When the mind plays, it’s flighty

It has many toys, stored in our psyche

We battle, but this is a playground

Freedom’s lost, making us ego-bound

When the mind runs, its legs don’t tire

Thoughts sing along as if a choir

If only we could sit and watch

Awareness would rise a notch

When the mind walks, there’s ease

With the talk of a happy breeze

Comes longing for more grace

That happiness doesn’t turn its face

When the mind sleeps, we’re lost

There’s no replacing hours lost

A daily truce with the mind at dawn

Will turn life into a playful marathon
