We’re unlucky when it erupts
The touchstone of the corrupt
Power, it lives through actions
It’s the king of distractions
It has a magnetic pull
No stopping when full
Power, it’s irresistible
But a short-lived pinnacle
It’s a struggle to bequeath
The mind resists going beneath
Power, it’s devil’s potion
Promising a high promotion
The road beyond is long
It’s not lost for the strong
With power, the mind will corrode
Without shelter of the ego’s robe
