When a calamity befalls

The rising pride of humanity
Breaks, when there’s a calamity
Fear replaces unbridled hubris
How could nature do this?

Our weapons are no match
An invisible force we can’t catch
Nobody is pardoned and exempted
What comes next must be accepted

We must forge new bonds
Uniting our individual ponds
After all, the sky exists as one
It shows, differences can be undone

Calamities don’t respect color
Of skin or money, we discover
In good times, we went separate ways
There’s nowhere to run, the world’s ablaze

It’s too late to reverse the chain
Events will unfold, inflicting pain
Testing our mettle and resolve
If we rally together, we may solve

Happenings beyond our control
Nobody foresaw this giant hole
Stopping our relentless march
Is there nobody that can hold the torch?

History says times have been worse
This time, it is left to us to nurse
Humanity back to its original health
It can’t be done by only splurging wealth
