The Divine Principle
It’s within all of us

The divine principle is within
Waiting for the mind to thin
Its manifestation is unpredictable
Accompanied by joy irresistible
The mind tells us to look outwards
We miss so much not turning inwards
We have practiced the worldly act
It keeps our ignorance intact
Even though we claim to know
We can’t rise above a plateau
It is determined by the senses
Our desires become its defenses
The generator works all the time
Whether we’re old or in our prime
Desires, they run the mind’s clock
On the future, it has a firm lock
The present is where it’s most divine
We’re offered a place, but we decline
First, we must offload the past
It’s easy when not constantly rehashed
The divine principle is patient
The bedrock since times ancient
It is waiting to be discovered
Mysterious, when the mind’s cluttered
Stepping back from the five gates
Fully unplugging from our traits
A hidden hand reaches for us
The divine principle, it makes little fuss
It has every form at its disposal
May not match with the mind’s proposal
A fixed idea of what it should be
We curl up and pray, serious not carefree
The divine principle resides everywhere
With full awareness, it is easy to snare
As the eyes see the true reflection
We develop universal affection
From the distant stars to a glow worm
Our devotion to the principle holds firm
Becoming eyes and ears of the universal
The mind’s included in that expanding circle
A transformation that starts with a thought
Surely there is one in the present lot
We hold in our consciousness
At least one, of divine provenance
The effort is here and ready
Waiting for our will to become steady
By seeing the divine, excluding none
The journey home has begun
Our efforts make the world a better place
The way we treat it is such a disgrace
Our palaces compete with our garbage
Nature has not witnessed such carnage
Before the will wilts and the mind takes over
Recognize, we’re magical, not mediocre
It’s time to win over the divine principle
Only the heart can take us to that pinnacle
