The Hurdle
We must overcome within
When the mind is a hurdle no more
We will speak from the other shore
From where silence flows like a river
It is the land of the true forgiver
Working quietly without dreams
Always awake, without routines
From a place manned by divine order
Let in through an invisible border
It can’t be crossed by all those who seek
Even if diligent, without trying to speak
The major hurdle remains ‘I the seeker’
With that thought, we can’t go deeper
We strive to carry our physical form
Wherever it is welcoming and warm
Whether outside, or inside a thought
This is a hurdle, everything that’s sought
We won’t disappear by letting go
The hurdle will always be what we know
Hidden prejudice is hard to uproot
It is the basis of our every pursuit
We could say, hurdles are self-inflicted
They’re encountered when we’re addicted
To desires, dreams, hopes, and fears
They may take us through valleys of tears
Until we learn how to survive and swim
Such moments make the mind grim
Every hurdle we pass, we’re stronger
Distance to the other shore gets shorter
