The invisible enemy
Has now arrived
There’s an invisible enemy
It’s destroying the serenity
Painstakingly cultivated
Happiness is now adulterated
Where did it come from?
Now there’s no us and them
When fortified borders aren’t safe
Anxiety and despair begin to chafe
We’re told not to huddle
There’s danger, it will puddle
Entering homes, locks can’t prevent
There’s no safe place to vent
We are recent additions
From more ancient traditions
Comes the invisible enemy
Laughing at human hegemony
Our ancestors have seen worse
If only we could converse
They would envy our comforts
We see otherwise when fear hurts
The invisible enemy’s getting away
Turning our blue skies gray
It has cultivated fear as an asset
Forcing us to bow down and accept
The new norm, it’s changing lives
They’re useless, our guns and knives
We can help restore health and serenity
By not gifting our fear to the enemy
