The mind in a hurry

For the mind, everything is a wait
It is always eager for an update
A moment’s worth of patience
And it begins to fear our absence
Life knows nothing of our hurry
The culprit behind every worry
We want everything to happen
Now, time may not allow it to ripen
All of existence moves together
Held by an invisible tether
We see ourselves as islands
Into which life somehow descends
Taking life for granted is easy
After all, we are ever so busy
Decorating our lives with prizes
And lost in our endless causes
The world needs all our types
It’s been so since ancient times
Opening our eyes we see the wall
That has rendered even giants small
Working against time, with a smile
We may stumble upon what’s worthwhile
Kept hidden in the mind’s secret closet
With it, the mind knows it cannot profit
A hurried life is a paradise
The mind wouldn’t want it otherwise
A rush hour’s worth of thoughts can’t wait
The future’s far away, they anxiously await
Slowing down, even just a tad
As moments pile up, we’ll be glad
There is, so much to discover
The mind will continue to hover
It is an ancient relationship
Kept under the ego’s guardianship
As apprentices, we unconsciously work
Expecting rewards, we keep our word
To the mind, we have acquiesced
We are no longer a happy guest
We put ourselves on a slow simmer
Of resentment, the future may get dimmer
To the very end, the mind burns bright
Feigning ignorance to our plight
As hordes of desires pile up and wait
Letting go or holding on, we debate
The mind and the unknown
As different as water and stone
Leaving early we reach on time
The unknown is a long hard climb
Away from all that the mind holds
There is a reversal of roles
Impatience disappears, patience settles
We no longer act as unruly rebels
In line with the masterplan
Set in space, when time began
The mind vacates all disappointment
And becomes a haven of contentment
