The mind offers protection

Through its projections

Shielding impermanence

From any remembrance

Behind its wall, we survive

By pretending to thrive

Chasing wins, avoiding loss

On a floor slippery as moss

The mind’s made the master

We give ourselves up on a platter

With the skill of a puppeteer

We are held on the tip of a spear

Neither here nor there

One day it will all seem fair

When we see our true reflection

By declining the mind’s protection
