The two ends

Of life

At the two ends, life’s dissolved
Neither may be recalled
In between, it gets serious
Where time goes, we’re oblivious

A variegated landscape
Sometimes we seek to escape
There is nowhere to go
This life, we must undergo

Other times, we feel blessed
Everything possible is possessed
Leaving is out of the question
We bristle at the suggestion

Neither is real and lasting
They are scenes, in passing
The serious discard any advice
Unwittingly, they pay a price

This chance may not repeat
We may never again meet
Awaken from the stupor
Otherwise, we’ll be poorer

Without wisdom’s touch
Past and future, both a crutch
The two are never-ending
Neither is a blessing

Life acts in the now
We’re safe, if we don’t allow
The mind to play the game
Where life it tries to reframe
