The two pedals

Life gives us two pedals
They are both vessels
One comes full, other empty
The relationship gets testy
As the mind begins to fill
It can no longer remain still
Forgetting it’s tied to the body
It begins to act haughty
The hardworking life force
Which every cell courts
Tolerates the mind’s misbehavior
It is such a benevolent savior
The mind is quick to claim glory
Backed up by its inventory
The space it occupies isn’t tiny
Where each thought can be pricey
Towards the mind, everything tilts
Soon, nothing beyond exists
As far as the mind’s eye can see
It offers a ready guarantee
We trust the mind so much
Using the body as if a crutch
Favoring one pedal over the other
We can’t expect life to get smoother
As time slithers forwards
We must try and swing upwards
The two pedals offer assistance
They are vital to our existence
One day, they will have to part
Before then, retreat into the heart
There is a ladder sitting unused
Made so, it cannot be misused
To reach it, we must even
The influence on our being
The two pedals dominate the scene
The path upwards lies in between
Revere the mind and the body
Together, they allow us to embody
The ideals of being a human
Whoever thought of this fusion
We must be grateful for this chance
To take advantage of the romance
Between our life’s two pedals
They are like precious petals
Allowing life to unfurl and flower
Every moment, it’s a divine shower
We must not stop pedaling
It is not worth meddling
The pedals with which we arrive
Are enough for us to survive
But is life is about coming alive
The two pedals can help us strive
